NO! NO! No! no! no..no..sob
Experienced RV'er Eric here with an important tip for you newbies out there. You newbies do the funniest things!
I really shouldn't have to tell you this!
Tip #25
When departing your campground, always retract your awning before driving down the road.
It just makes good, common sense. You silly newbies!

Yeah, that's gonna hurt… the pocket book! No easy “Wardlaw Fix” here. Once that metal is twisted and bent and screws are ripped from wall, it is a bear to straighten.
It still kinda works. The motor gets bound up when trying to reel in the awning, though. I think I'll just leave it rolled in for now.
I guess I'm lucky the National Park service is not suing me for damaging their “Drive Safely” sign post as I exited the campground.
If anyone would like to donate to the “Wardlaw Awning Needs Trust” (WANT), please contact me through this blog.
You know how much I love and care for you all and would gladly help you in a similar time of need.

(I remember I had just received an email from Bren addressed to me and Dwight, so I was thinking about Dwight, so it was DWIGHT'S FAULT!)
